How Ads Are Selected
It's all automatic thanks to Google's AdSense program

The advertisements you see at the bottom of every page on this site are selected automatically for us by Google via our membership in Google's AdSense program. The ads are chosen based on the content of each page, using algorithms developed by Google. When you click on an ad, Google charges the advertiser a fee and we get a portion of the revenue. This ad revenue supports the site.

We have no control over the ads that are chosen by Google, though in general they are very relevant to the page topic. Even Google has little control: the ads are are chosen automatically, without human involvement. Sometimes there are no ads to display, in which case either a public service announcement (PSA) is displayed (for which we get no revenue and which Google provides as a public service) or nothing is displayed.

The ads themselves are drawn from the pool of advertisers who have joined Google's AdWords program. This is the same program that is used to generate sponsored links on Google's search results page.

You can also search this site using Google by visiting the search page. This search facility is also provided by the AdSense program.
