The Vioxx recall is like a dream come true for lawyers. Not only does a major pharmaceutical company withdraw one of its best-selling drugs, it does so voluntarily in response to the results of an independent study. And there are rumors that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) squelched earlier findings along a similar vein. Plenty of fodder for the lawyers. You could even say that Vioxx is like Prozac for tort attorneys!
So how do you find a good lawyer? Obviously, if you're considering suing Merck as an individual or particpating in a class action suit, you'll want to find a law firm with experience in pharmaceutical litigation. Beyond that, you'll want to look at all the usual things, such as how big the firm is, how experienced its attorneys (and in particular your attorney) are, how much they charge, the reputation of the firm, and so on. It's a tough decision, and don't hesitate to shop around.
You'll find a number of firms sponsoring advertisements on this site, so be sure to check them out. Also, use the search page to search the Web for law firms using keywords like "vioxx lawsuit" and "vioxx lawyers" or even "pharmaceutical tort litigation".
